Two Dayton-area firms were named to a $4.7 billion deal to support the U.S. Air Force.

Sawdey Solutions Services Inc. and MacAulay-Brown Inc. – both based in Beavercreek – were among the more than two dozen companies that earned a spot on the contract issued Tuesday by Air Combat Command.

The work includes management and professional support services; studies, analyses and evaluations; and engineering and technical services. It was set up as a contract vehicle, which is a short-list of companies allowed to bid on individual tasks.

A portion of the contract is a small business set-aside, so there are two contractor pools. MacAulay-Brown will be part of the full and open competition pool, which will be comprised of large businesses. Sawdey Solutions is part of the small business competition pool.

MacAulay-Brown is the largest, locally based defense contractor in the Dayton region.

With about 500 Dayton-area workers and nearly 2,000 workers across the country, MacAulay-Brown currently does about $350 million a year in business. It provides engineering, technical and management services for the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, intelligence community and other government agencies.

Launched in 2001, Sawdey Solutions has 44 employees and provides professional services such as support for information technology, acquisition, logistics and program management.

Air Combat Command is based at Langley Air Force Base, Va.
